July 26, 2019 -  PUC approves construction permit for Sweetland Wind Farm

The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission has approved the construction permit for Sweetland Wind Farm, a wind energy facility capable of producing approximately 200 megawatts of energy near Miller, S.D. The company expects to complete the $240 million facility and begin operations by Dec. 31, 2020.  However, Sweetland stated that construction will not commence until the company finds a buyer for the electricity generated by the wind farm.....(read more)

July 10, 2019 - South Dakota PUC approves construction permit for Triple H Wind project

The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission approved a construction permit for the Triple H Wind project, a wind energy facility capable of generating up to 250.54 megawatts of energy in Hyde Co. The action by the commission came on July 9 at its regular meeting in Pierre.....(read more)

July 9, 2019 - PUC gives Crowned Ridge Wind Farm permit to construct

The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission today approved a permit, with conditions, giving the go ahead for the construction of the Crowned Ridge Wind Farm in northeastern South Dakota. May 15, 2019 - South Dakota PUC votes to approve refunds for MidAmerican Energy Co. customers

MidAmerican Energy Co. customers will receive a refund and rate reduction as the result of action by the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission at their regular meeting in Pierre on May 14. The approved settlement agreement, presented jointly by PUC staff and MidAmerican Energy, specifies the company will refund $3,308,988 to its South Dakota natural gas customers and $921,476 to its South Dakota electric customers.....(read more)

South Dakota Public Utilities Commissioners voted to approve a permit, with conditions,  for the construction of the Deuel Harvest North Wind Farm, a wind energy facility in Deuel County capable of producing up to 310.1 megawatts of energy. January 10, 2019 - Hanson elected to lead PUC

Commissioner Gary Hanson was elected chairman of the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission at the commission’s regular meeting on Jan. 8, 2019, in Pierre, South Dakota. This will be Hanson’s sixth time serving as the commission’s chair, having previously held the position in 2014, 2013, 2011, 2008 and 2005. Commissioner Chris Nelson was elected vice chairman.
