Reporting Outages in South Dakota

Consumers: Please call your local utility company to report an outage. Contact information for elextric, natural gas, telephone and wireless telecommunications providers can be found at the South Dakota Utility Provider page.

Telecom Providers: Outages should be reported to the PUC in a timely manner by emailing specific outage information to

Information provided when reporting the outage should include:

  • Name of person reporting
  • Company Name
  • Contact Phone Number
  • After Hours Phone Number
  • Email of person reporting
  • Outage Date
  • Outage Time
  • Affected Areas
  • Number of Affected Customers
  • Type of Service Affected
  • Estimated Restoration Date
  • Estimated Restoration Time
  • Comments: provide information about what caused the outage.  If you have several cities out, list the cities and total number of customers out in each city.
