Position: Grain Warehouse Program Manager
Agency: South Dakota Public Utilities Commission
Location: Pierre, South Dakota
Salary: $85,000 or more depending on experience

The position is responsible to manage the PUC’s grain warehouse program. Duties include reviewing grain buyer license holders’ financial and other records to ensure compliance with state laws, rules and commission orders; supervising grain warehouse program staff; and handling other duties as assigned by supervisor. Position reports to the commission’s executive director.
This position mostly works in a typical office environment. Position will travel in-state at least once a month to perform on-site grain warehouse inspections. Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends may be necessary for critical deadlines or support.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
A bachelor’s degree in agricultural business, business, finance or related field; agricultural business experience preferred; management experience preferred.
Skills:
Strong English skills for writing reports, emails and professional documentation
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle confidential information in an appropriate manner
Ability to:Ability to take initiative, research options, and exercise good judgment
Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing with co-workers, industry members and others
Ability and willingness to work occasional extended hours
Ability to be adaptable and accommodate changing situations and workloads
Ability to lift at least 40 pounds to load and unload materials for inspections and events
Knowledge of:
Math and accounting principles
Microsoft Office 365 with proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel and ability to become proficient with grain inspection software
Additional Information:
Travel and overnights are occasionally required to conduct inspections and attend other events. A valid driver’s license is required.
This position is exempt from the Civil Service Act.
This position is eligible for Veterans’ Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
