1. EL24-031 In the Matter of the Joint Request for Service Rights Exception between Douglas Electric Cooperative, Inc. and Southeastern Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Staff Analyst: Joseph Rezac; Staff Attorneys: Logan Schaefbauer, Jennie Fuerst)
On October 1, 2024, the Commission received a joint request for a service rights exception between Douglas Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Douglas) and Southeastern Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Southeastern). The proposed service rights exception will allow Douglas to provide single-phase electrical service for a new residential service in Southeastern’s assigned service territory. The location for the property is the Northwest quarter (NW1/4) of the Southwest quarter (SW1/4) of Section 7, T099N, R061W, of Susquehanna Township in Hutchinson County, South Dakota.
TODAY, shall the Commission approve the requested service rights exception between Douglas Electric Cooperative, Inc. and Southeastern Electric Cooperative, Inc.?
2. EL24-032 In the Matter of the Application of Black Hills Power, Inc. dba Black Hills Energy for Authorization to Enter into up to $450 Million of Intercompany Notes with Black Hills Corporation (Staff Analyst: Patrick Steffensen; Staff Attorneys: Amanda Reiss, Jennie Fuerst)
On October 4, 2024, Black Hills Power, Inc. dba Black Hills Energy (Black Hills) filed with the Commission an application requesting authorization pursuant to SDCL 49-34A-29, to issue debt securities, specifically unsecured Intercompany Promissory Notes (Intercompany Notes) payable to the corporate parent of Black Hills Power, Black Hills Corporation. The Intercompany Notes would have a term of at least two years and would be for a total amount up to $450 million. Black Hills Power intends to use the funds obtained through the Intercompany Notes to replace $190 million in short-term debt and for the construction, completion, extension, or improvement of its facilities; the improvement or maintenance of facilities; and for general Black Hills Power purposes.
TODAY, shall the Commission authorize Black Hills Power to issue debt securities, specifically unsecured Intercompany Promissory Notes payable to the corporate parent of Black Hills Power, Black Hills Corporation up to $450 Million?
