PUC Chair Hanson to speak at national Energy Forum

South Dakota Public Utilities Commission Chairman Gary Hanson will speak as one of the invited presenters at the Emerging Issues Policy Forum's Energy Conference in Orlando, FL, Oct. 9-11.

The EIPF organizes and hosts this annual conference, sponsored by Enterprise Technology Partners, LLC. Chairman Hanson will be a discussion leader on the topic of regulatory response to energy infrastructure needs. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Chairman Joseph Kelliher and the incoming President of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners James Kerr will also participate in this discussion.

"I look forward to an interesting debate on energy infrastructure in the United States with my colleagues as well as other energy experts," said Chairman Hanson. "This forum brings together energy company representatives, capital market participants representing groups such as Citigroup and Banc of America, national and state regulators, and specialists in various energy fields. Given the latest energy news in our country – from the effects of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita to the need for more renewable energy development – this forum should bring forth some thought-provoking discussions."

Hanson has served as a member of the Public Utilities Commission since 2003. He is a member of the Energy Resources and Environment Committee for the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners. He also serves as the South Dakota representative on the organization of MISO states and is a member of the National Wind Coordination Committee.
