MidAmerican Energy Files for Rate Increase in Natural Gas Delivery Rates

Iowa-based MidAmerican Energy Company has requested a proposed increase in their South Dakota natural gas delivery rates. According to MidAmerican, the proposed increase will be used to cover the costs of continual improvements made to the company's delivery system and customer service operations.

MidAmerican has stated that the proposed increase for an average residential customer would be approximately $2.50 per month. The South Dakota PUC has final authority to review and approve any rate changes requested by the company, and has suspended any potential rate adjustments at this time pending analysis of the request.

MidAmerican is South Dakota's largest natural gas utility, serving more than 70,000 customers in southeastern South Dakota including Sioux Falls, Yankton and Vermillion.

Those consumers wishing to comment on MidAmerican's proposed rate increase, may write the SD Public Utilities Commission at 500 E. Capitol Avenue, Pierre, SD, 57501, call 1-800-332-1782, or send an e-mail to puc@state.sd.us.
