Public Utilities Commission offers Wireless Conference presentations online

The South Dakota PUC would like to encourage anyone interested in new and emerging communications technologies to visi Web site at www.puc.sd.gov. According to Chairman Bob Sahr, just by clicking on the headline entitled Wireless Conference Presentations, people can gain access to some of the premier presenters in the wireless technology world.

"We understand that many people who would have liked to attend the conference weren't able to do so," said Sahr. "By posting the PowerPoint presentations on our Web site, anyone may now study the presentations at their convenience."

The Wireless Conference, the inaugural event within the Commission's "Technology on the Horizon" series, offered participants a birds-eye's view of new wireless technologies, a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) primer, federal funding sources, and how regulatory agencies and the industry work with consumers.

Vice Chairman Gary Hanson believes the conference offered the very components necessary for attendees to discover just what the communications world has to offer South Dakota. "We heard information about future technology that will provide a vital link to the very success of South Dakota in the business world." said Hanson.

Commissioner Jim Burg was very happy with the Conference turnout. "We had 50% more people attend than we had pre-registered. It was encouraging to see such interest in emerging communications applications."

The two-day conference was held at the Holiday Inn and Convention Center in Spearfish. For more information, people are encouraged to visit the PUC on the web at www.puc.sd.gov, or call (800) 332-1782.
