NorthWestern Energy and the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission Invites Media to Weatherization Demonstration

Mitchell, S.D. – October 18, 2004 – NorthWestern Energy is working with the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission and the Rural Office of Community Services to educate the public about weatherization. South Dakota's PUC commissioners will join NorthWestern Energy representatives and ROCS experts to demonstrate for the media weatherization techniques, tips and recommendations on Thursday, October 21, at 1 p.m. at a home located at 412 S. Sanborn in Mitchell.

NorthWestern Energy and the PUC are encouraging customers to act now and weatherize their homes while the weather is still mild, since natural gas prices are expected to be about 20% higher this year compared to last year. Energy auditors will demonstrate steps homeowners can take now to prepare for winter and promote a new technique for weatherizing stucco homes. ROCS provides weatherization services for qualified, low-income residents in its 22-county service area.

The demonstration will provide excellent photo opportunities, sound and visuals for television, radio and print media along with interviews with commissioners and energy conservation experts. For more information please contact Claudia Rapkoch at NorthWestern Energy, 605-978-2808 or Sue Schaefer at the PUC, 605-773-3201.
