Custer State Park Cook-out, Tuesday evening, June 7
Included in attendee and guest registration
Following the visit to Mount Rushmore, MARC attendees will take a short motorcoach ride to Custer State Park to spend the evening among the pines for a cook-out at the State Game Lodge Pavilion. Attendees will feast on down-home cooking featuring buffalo burgers and all the fixin's. Custer State Park is the second-largest state park in the nation and home to one of the largest publicly-owned bison herds. The State Game Lodge was the Summer White House to Pres. Calvin Coolidge in 1927. The lodge was built in 1920 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The nearby Pavilion was constructed in 2010.
Comfortable clothing, sturdy footwear and a jacket are recommended. Evening temperatures in the Black Hills can be cool.
We'll be exploring the Black Hills in comfortable motorcoaches for our off-site
MARC 2011 activities. The routes occur over and around mountains with elevations up to 5,700 feet. The pace is leisurely and the view is picturesque. See the
driving routes and
map.
See for yourself.
