ADDENDUM TO THE AGENDA

Telecommunications

1. IN THE MATTER OF POTENTIAL PROBLEMS WITH THIRD PARTY ACCESS TO TELEPHONE COMPANY SUBSCRIBER LISTS. (Staff Attorney: Camron Hoseck.)

On July 21, 1997, the Commission received a letter from telephone directory publisher Darrel Wangen, President of FDSD of Rapid City, Inc., concerning potential problems in telephone directory publishing resulting from the Telecommunications Act of 1996. Central to Mr. Wangen's concern is the option afforded telephone resellers whereby U S WEST Communications, Inc. would first have to obtain authorization from its reseller prior to releasing directory listing information to third parties. Mr. Wangen cites Section 1 (d) (ii) of Appendix B of the service resale agreement between U S WEST and Firstel Inc. as a basis for his concern.

TODAY, Mr. Wangen would like to address the Commission. And, how shall the Commission proceed?
