PUC to hold renewable energy meeting in Lake Preston

PIERRE, S.D. – The Public Utilities Commission will hold a public meeting in Lake Preston beginning at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 30 to discuss renewable energy. The meeting will be held at the Fire Hall Community Center on Main Street.

Commissioners Bob Sahr, Dusty Johnson and Gary Hanson will discuss energy trends and various types of renewable energy including wind, solar and biofuels. They will also answer questions regarding these energy sources and opportunities for related development in South Dakota.

Bill Even, state energy development director, and Jeff Rud, power supply specialist with East River Electric Power Cooperative, will also attend the meeting.

Area residents interested in renewable energy are encouraged to attend to provide input to the commissioners. The meeting is being organized in cooperation with Joan Kazmerzak of Lake Preston Economic Development.
