PUC to host wind meetings in Wessington Springs and Highmore

The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission and the South Dakota Farm Bureau will host meetings in Wessington Springs and Highmore on May 4 to discuss wind energy development with representatives from Clipper Wind Development, Wind on the Wires, Windustry and area landowners and residents.

The Wessington Springs meeting begins at 3 p.m. at the Wessington Springs Café.  The Highmore meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center.

The PUC Commissioners will share information regarding the opportunities and obstacles of wind energy development. They'll be available to answer questions regarding landowners' responsibilities and liabilities. Tom Feiler, Regional Development Director for Clipper Wind Power Inc. will be on hand to answer questions. Beth Soholt, Director for Wind on the Wires, and Lisa Daniels with Windustry have also been invited to participate.

Those interested in wind development are encouraged to attend and provide input to Commissioners Gary Hanson, Bob Sahr and Dusty Johnson on this issue. The meeting was organized in cooperation with Laura Kieser, representing the Wessington Springs Area Development Corporation.

The Wessington Springs Café is located at 201 Main St. East in Wessington Springs.  The Highmore Senior Center is located at 103 Iowa Ave. South in Highmore.
