 PUC to hold meetings on cell phone coverage and wind energy development

The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission will hold meetings on March 7 in Veblen, Britton and Sisseton to discuss cell phone coverage and wind energy development with area residents.

The Veblen meeting will be held at 2 p.m. at the Legion Hall, and the Britton meeting will be at 4 p.m. at the Marshall County Community Building. PUC Chairman Gary Hanson, Vice Chair Bob Sahr and Commissioner Dusty Johnson will attend, along with Representatives Clayton Halverson and David Sigdestad and Senator Gary Hanson. Veblen Mayor Lavonne Jacobson and Britton Mayor Dave Andreson helped organize the meetings and plan to attend their city's meeting.

The PUC Commissioners will present information regarding the availability and usability of wireless coverage service. They will also share information regarding wind energy development at both meetings. Area residents are encouraged to attend and provide input to the Commissioners on these issues.

The Commissioners, Representatives and Senator will also hold a meeting in Sisseton at 7:30 p.m. on March 7 at the Roberts County 4H Grounds to discuss wind energy. Sisseton Mayor Frank Karst helped organize the event. Area residents are encouraged to attend to learn about wind energy development issues as well as to ask questions and provide input to the PUC.
