Position:      Grain Warehouse Manager
Agency:      South Dakota Public Utilities Commission
Closing Date:     Position open until filled

Position Purpose:
Position reviews grain buyer license holders’ financial and other records to ensure compliance with state laws, rules and commission orders. Position will travel in-state at least once a month to perform on-site grain warehouse inspections. Position will manage the Grain Warehouse program staff.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • bachelor’s degree in agricultural business, business, finance or related field required;
  • agricultural business experience preferred;
  • management experience preferred;
  • proper English usage;
  • knowledge of math and accounting principles;
  • technical writing ability; and
  • ability to use computers and software, including becoming proficient with grain inspection software.
Abilities Include:
  • comprehending math and accounting principles;
  • being proficient in the use of applicable office and accounting computer software programs;
  • communicating clearly verbally and in writing with co-workers, industry members and others;
  • being self-motivated;
  • traveling and working evenings and weekends when needed;
  • working in confined spaces;
  • lifting at least 40 pounds to load equipment for inspections; and
  • having and maintaining a valid South Dakota driver’s license.
Additional Comments:
  • Position is salaried with benefits.
  • Position requires in-state travel year-round. Some overnight stays will be necessary.
  • Position is based in Pierre.
  • Salary: $55,000 or more depending on experience.
